Marker Boards are, in my opinion, over priced.  I needed one in the home office, but didn’t want to shell out the $150 for the size I wanted.  After a little research I learned that glass and plexiglas are alternatives for the dry-erase board.  Glass would have been to heavy for what I needed the board for.  Plexiglas seemed like a good alternative.

I stopped by my local home depot and realized I would have to drill the Plexiglas into the wall.  It was, however, much less expensive than a dry erase board.

After a little thought, I ran out to Wal-Mart and purchased the largest poster frame they carried, it was $20.  But any size poster frame would work depending on your needs.  I took it home and simply flipped over the paper that came with the frame.  It was stark white and exactly what I wanted.  Just one little nail in the wall and I have myself an inexpensive, useful, dry erase maker board.

To compensate for the lack of a marker ledge, I attached Velcro to each marker and a strip of Velcro to the top of the poster frame.  Viola! It works perfectly.
